Duneland Elementary Schoold Recycling Contest:

Spring 2010 Contest Runs Feb. 22 - March 19

Congratulations to all participating schools.  Your efforts are truly amazing and the best we've seen so far!

In only four weeks, your combined efforts have helped to recycle 18 tons of paper! This averages to be 13.4 pounds of paper per student and is equivalent to saving:

  • 306 Trees
  • 126,000 Gallons of Water
  • 49 Barrels of Oil
  • 59 Cubic Yards of Landfill Space
  • 1,080 Pounds of Air Pollution
  • 72,000 Kilowatt Hours of Electricity(Enough to power 9 average houses for one year!)

CONGRATULATIONS to the students of St Patrick's.  Because they collected a four-week total of more than 22 pounds of paper per student, more than any previously participating school, St Patrick's School will receive a bench seat made from 1,550 recycled plastic milk jugs and a refurbished laptop computer!

In only 4 WEEKS Valpo Elementary students saved 11.47 tons of paper. That is equivalent to:

  • 195 Trees
  • 80,290 Gallons of Water
  • 34.41 Barrels of Oil
  • 37.85 cubic yards of landfill space
  • 45,880 Kilowatt Hours of Electricity (Enough to power 6 average houses for 1 year)

Portage Elementary Schools Paper Recycling Contest :

Spring 2009

CONGRATULATIONS to the students of Portage Christian School.  Because they collected a four-week total of more than 17 pounds of paper per student, Portage Christian School will receive a bench seat made from 1,550 recycled plastic milk jugs!

In only four weeks, your combined efforts have helped to recycle 15 tons of paper! This averages to be 7.1 pounds of paper per student and is equivalent to saving:

  • 255 Trees
  • 101,000 Gallons of Water
  • 46 Barrels of Oil
  • 50 Cubic Yards of Landfill Space
  • 900 Pounds of Air Pollution
  • 60,000 Kilowatt Hours of Electricity(Enough to power 7 average houses for one year!)
